Lupus and Allied Diseases Association Donates $150,000 to Advance Lupus Research

Our deepest thanks go to the Lupus and Allied Diseases Association, Inc. (LADA) for their extremely generous donation of $150,000 to support two studies funded by the Lupus Research Alliance.

The projects are:

  • Dr. Zahi Touma’s Serum analytes differentiate between SLE patients with and without Cognitive Impairment at University Health Network
  • Dr. Marcus Clark’s High-dimensional imaging to define prognostic states in H&E stained LN biopsies at the University of Chicago

LADA President & CEO Kathleen A. Arntsen (center) presented the donation on August 14th at the organization’s 25th Annual Lupus Charity Golf Classic – a milestone event marking a quarter of a century of continuous dedication to funding research that can deliver new treatments and a cure for the autoimmune disease affecting millions worldwide.

This latest contribution brings the total donation from LADA to a total of $1.43 million. Receiving the contribution were Lupus Research Alliance team members Albert T. Roy, Dorey Neilinger, Jonathan Marks, and Ian Kirkman (left to right).

The Lupus Research Alliance and LADA share the strong belief in the power of research to free the world of lupus and are each working hard to realize that vision.

“For anyone struggling to live with lupus or to love someone with lupus, what motivates us to face another day is our hope that research advancements lie just around the corner that will improve our lives. Because of this, we believe wholeheartedly in investing in quality research here at the Lupus and Allied Diseases Association, stated Ms. Arntsen. “It is imperative that all individuals with lupus and allied diseases are given the chance for a better quality of life and the opportunity to pursue their goals and live out their dreams.”
