Lupus Research Alliance Congratulates Dr. Robert Califf on FDA Commissioner Appointment

The Lupus Research Alliance applauds the appointment of Dr. Robert Califf as the Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). We are confident that Dr. Califf’s world-class expertise in healthcare quality and outcomes as well as clinical research will well enable him to guide the FDA in fulfilling its mission, which includes the advancing the public health by helping to speed innovations that make medical products more effective, safer, and more affordable…”.

We also thank Dr. Janet Woodcock for her outstanding work as Principal Acting Commissioner and for her long-standing support for the lupus community.  As a trained rheumatologist, Dr. Woodcock possesses a special appreciation for the challenges of treating people with lupus and other rheumatic conditions and we are grateful for her willingness to continue to serve in the position of Principal Deputy Commissioner.

The LRA looks forward to working with Drs. Califf and Woodcock in their new roles.
