LRA Urges Congress to Ensure Lupus Patients Maintain Access to Hydroxychloroquine

The President and CEO of the LRA, Kenneth Farber wrote personally to Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Leader Kevin McCarthy in the House of Representatives and Leader Mitch McConnell and Leader Chuck Schumer in the Senate asking that “any COVID-19 response and recovery package include provisions to ensure lupus patients maintain access to one of the most important medications approved to treat symptoms of this debilitating disease.” He specifically asks that any legislation responding to the COVID-19 pandemic provide ·

  • Funds to increase production and supply of hydroxychloroquine;
  • Ensures those using hydroxychloroquine to its intended uses are still able to access the medication and cracking down on instances of hoarding and price gouging.
