Thanks to the Lupus Research Alliance Team Life Without Lupus, with runners who pounded the pavements at the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon on Sunday to raise funds for lupus research.
Every one of those 13.1 miles bring us closer in the journey to Life Without Lupus – their invaluable steps brought the Team’s fundraising total to nearly $1 million!
The mighty Team is made up of dedicated individuals determined to make a difference for themselves, their grandmothers, nieces, mothers, fathers, friends and for the future lupus community.
This year’s top fundraiser is Cindy Saxman Margulies who has raised $15,000 to fund scientific study through the Lupus Research Alliance.
Jeff Hickman is fulfilling his dream to run his own lupus into the ground!
Jeff notes, “I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in 2009; it was like being hit by a truck. I was able to adapt through doctors’ help, medication, and two surgeries, and I feel like I’ve been able to overcome most symptoms through regular strenuous exercise. I joined Team Life Without Lupus to help raise funds for a disease that affects me personally and am running for those who may not be able to.”
