Second Annual Advocacy Day

Top ALR volunteers from across the country are invited to our Annual National Volunteer Meeting, where they are recognized for their efforts on behalf of our mission.

ALR volunteers and supporters from around the country gathered in Washington, D.C. on March 11- 13, 2007, for education on fundraising and grassroots advocacy, to celebrate at our National Awards Dinner, and to advocate for lupus research at our second-ever Advocacy Day.

Educate: Lively training and networking sessions were filled with shared stories of fundraising success and tips on becoming a successful advocate for lupus research. Dr. Mary K. Crow gave an update on the world of lupus research.

Celebrate: Our Third Annual National Awards Dinner, on the evening of March 11th, was a spectacular event. More than 200 people attended this celebration of the success of the Walk with Us to Cure Lupus program in 2006. Congratulations, again, to all the Awards winners.

Advocate: Most crucially, on March 13th, members of the ALR community visited Congress to share their experiences with lupus. ALR advocates asked their Members to consider supporting a vital cause: increasing federal support for lupus research.
