For the third year, the ALR hosted a booth in the Health Pavilion of the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference, held September 26-29, 2007, in Washington, D.C.
From the Congressional Black Caucus website:
For the first time in history of the U.S. House of Representatives, four African Americans serve as chairpersons of major committees. We are also proud that 17 African Americans lead major sub-committees and that Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina is the House Majority Whip.
We stand on the legacy of all who preceded us and must use the power of our leadership and the new Democratic majority to move our community forward. This year’s conference provides an unprecedented opportunity for you to not only join us in discussing all of the issues of importance to the African-American community, but also to be a part of this historic time as we develop and implement our legislative action items for the 110th Congress.
Hundreds of conference attendees visited the booth and walked away with more information on lupus and the work of the ALR. Thank you to our D.C. area volunteers for ably staffing the booth!
