Hospital for Special Surgery Celebrates Excellence in Care

HSS has long been recognized as one of the world's most acclaimed hospitals for orthopedics. In fact, for the third consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has named HSS the top hospital in the country for this field of medicine.

HSS is also a premier center for rheumatology treatment and research. The same publication ranked the hospital third in the nation as a leader in rheumatology.

Although the ALR is a relatively new organization, it has consistently funded the pioneering research at the HSS — notably, the work of Drs. Mary Crow, Jane Salmon, and Alessandra Pernis. Since 1999, the ALR has advanced their investigations and those of other innovative scientists through grants of more than $2 million.
