Faces of Lupus: Mack the Molecule!

Mack - the animated version of the ALR's logo - is a smart fellow. Just ask Dr. Shiv Pillai, ALR-Funded Professor of Medicine & Health Sciences and Technology, who shares the spotlight with his animated friend in an ALR short film.

On the ALR website right now, Mack and Dr. Pillai have an informative conversation about the function of the immune system, how lupus works, and what the ALR is doing to stop this awful disease in its tracks.

Part animation, part documentary, the Mack the Molecule clip is an enlightening and clear way to grasp how lupus disrupts the body's ability to defend itself. The ALR's aim was to create a learning tool that is both serious and fun - everyone is encouraged to watch it.

You never know where Mack is going to turn up...
