NYC Walk Raises $1 Million!

The 3,000 walkers who came out on October 22 in support of the ALR’s 8th Annual New York City Walk With Us to Cure Lupus event made history — they helped raise $1 million for lupus research!

The walkers were joined by NYC master of ceremonies, My9 news anchor Brenda Blackmon, ALR Chairman Robert Wood Johnson IV, and Walk Co-chairs Frank Bisignano, Chief Administrative Officer JPMorgan Chase; Daniel LaVecchia, Executive Managing Director BGC Partners; and Mark Wagar, President & CEO Empire BlueCross BlueShield.

The unparalleled participation of walkers — and the funds they raised — gave voice to people affected by lupus everywhere. The ALR thanks all those who helped to make this day so exhilaratingly successful.

Jets Fans Rally for Lupus Awareness Day

Fans at the Oct 23 Jets/Chargers game showed their support of Lupus Awareness Day by generously contributing over $11,000 to the ALR.

Prior to the kickoff at 1p.m., ALR staff and volunteers distributed ALR-branded reusable shopping bags and collected donations from fans as they entered the MetLife Stadium gates.

In total, Jets events supporting the ALR have raised an astounding $8.5 million for lupus research programs.

ALR Attends Annual Scientific Meeting

Attendees at the 75th Annual Scientific Meeting of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) — including staff from the ALR — met in Chicago the first week of November this year to gain new insights from the most respected names in rheumatology.

The ACR plays a pivotal role as collaborative leader to develop and implement rheumatology quality initiatives and these annual meetings are the ideal forum to share ideas and results.

The ALR was proud to participate and wishes to acknowledge the ACR on its milestone anniversary.

The Annual ALR Gala Dinner and Awards Presentation will take place this year on Thursday December 8th in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf=Astoria Hotel. The ALR is honoring Daniel L. Doctoroff, President and Chief Executive Officer, Bloomberg — and Master of Ceremonies will be Charlie Rose, executive Editor & Anchor of the interview program Charlie Rose.

All proceeds from the evening will directly fund lupus research.

If you would like information about attending the event, please call 212-888-7003. We’d be happy to speak with you.
