BGC Charity Day Includes the ALR
Hosted by BGC, the 7th Annual Global Charity Day took place on September 12th and the ALR — for the first time — was one of 19 benefiting non-profits.
BGC Partners, a world leader in financial services, was created as Cantor Fitzgerald struggled to rebuild itself after the tragic events of 9/11. This company suffered the greatest losses in the attack on the World Trade Center, losing 658 of its employees — or two thirds of its workforce.
Last year, "celebrity brokers" such as Lady Gaga, Natalie Morales, Gary Sinise, and Eli Manning helped raise money for selected charities by conducting real trades with BGC’s clients.
While the final count has not yet been tallied, BGC hopes to surpass last year's total of $10 million. In the past six years, Charity Day raised more than $33 million.
Kenneth M. Farber, President of the ALR, praised this effort: "This remarkable company has overcome tremendous hardships following 9/11 – yet continues to make the world a better place. With deepest gratitude, we thank BGC for including the ALR in its Global Charity Day this year."
