Message from the President
Dear Friends of the ALR,
In celebrating our landmark anniversary, one thing remains abundantly clear — much has changed in the world of lupus in the past ten years.
At the forefront of this change is the ALR. Our cover story, tells how ALR -funded studies over the years are now leading the way toward new therapies.
On this page, you'll see how the ALR brought together representatives from the pharmaceutical world to share their thoughts on clinical trials.
And in celebration of our 10th Anniversary, we thank our volunteers — the people who work so hard to make our Walk with Us to Cure Lupus walkathons such powerful fundraising and public awareness tools. On page 3 you'll meet some of them.
In closing, I would like to remind you that our Board of Directors has established an Anniversary Matching Gift Program that will match every dollar donated to the ALR in this anniversary year — up to $1 million!
Your ongoing support is deeply appreciated.
I hope that you share my pride in the ALR's many accomplishments — because you helped us realize them.
Please accept my heartfelt gratitude,
P.S. As this report went to press, we received exciting news about Benlysta — which could become the first new drug for lupus in 50 years.
