Successful 2008 ALR National Volunteer Meeting and Advocacy Day
ALR volunteers and supporters from around the country gathered in Washington, D.C. on March 2-4, 2008 for ALR's National Volunteer Meeting and Advocacy Day. Participants attended trainings in fundraising and grassroots advocacy, celebrated at our Working Together for a Cure National Awards Dinner, and collaborated with fellow ALR advocates from around the country.
Most importantly, ALR advocates visited over 100 Congressional offices to ask their Members to support federal funding for lupus research.
Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL) received the ALR's 2008 Public Achievement Award for his dedication to eliminating health disparities in our nation and his commitment to increased federal funding for lupus research
