Message from the President

Barbara BoytsWelcome to the latest edition of Lupus Research Update. You may note a few changes in our pages. We’ve revamped the newsletter to be more accessible and informative for you, our friends and supporters.

In this issue, you will read about the groundbreaking research you are helping to make possible. I’m extremely proud that we awarded a record number of grants in 2008 that will help speed us toward better treatments and ultimately prevent and cure lupus. I hope you’ll enjoy reading the latest research news as well as updates on our advocacy efforts and other activities.

As you read, remember that everything we do at the ALR is possible because of generous friends like you. You have helped ALR become the largest private funder of lupus research in the world. With your help, we’re learning more about lupus every day and moving ever closer to our vision of a world where lupus no longer exists.
