Read about real progress for people with lupus worldwide reported by Lupus Research Alliance scientists at the international Lupus 2017 conference!
Clinical studies are essential to delivering safer and more effective treatments to people with lupus. The Lupus Research Alliance takes a leadership role in driving clinical research.
The Lupus Research Alliance is the only voluntary lupus health organization to organize and fund a clinical trials network to conduct multi-center lupus clinical studies through its Lupus Clinical Investigators Network (LuCIN). A milestone to celebrate this month, the first two clinical trials conducted by LuCIN will launch at sites throughout North America.
Also advancing clinical research, the Lupus Research Alliance is a national sponsor of a free program, AWARE for All, to educate and empower the public to consider clinical trial participation.
In addition, Lupus Research Alliance sponsors the only website dedicated to lupus clinical research – LupusTrials.org. There you can search for trials in your neighborhood and learn about the latest news about lupus research.
This Lupus Awareness Month the Lupus Research Alliances announces that it will conduct its first clinical trial scheduled to begin at the end of May 2017. This non-interventional clinical study called VALUE (VAlidation in LUpus of an Electronic Patient Reported Outcomes Tool) will test a custom smartphone app enabling lupus patients to report symptoms such as pain and fatigue in real time potentially opening the door to more precise treatment. This study will be implemented in collaboration with Pfizer, the global biopharmaceutical company.
