The Alliance for Lupus Research (ALR) and JPMorgan Chase recently held a special fundraiser for JPMorgan Chase employees and some other guests to help rally support for the ALR’s upcoming Walk with Us to Cure Lupus event in New York City this October, in which JPMorgan Chase is a leading sponsor. The fundraiser, officially called JPMorgan Chase and NY Jets Fight Lupus at the New Meadowlands Stadium, provided JPMorgan Chase employees, along with some others, an opportunity to go onto the field to meet New York Jets players at the team's first practice in their new stadium (Meadowlands Stadium).
NY Jets owner and ALR Chairman Robert Wood (Woody) Johnson IV partnered with JPMorgan Chaise Chief Administrative Officer Frank Bisignano to offer this special program. Fifty-five football-loving JPMorgan Chase employees, clients and partners donated $1,000 apiece to be part of the festivities. All of the proceeds from the event went to support the ALR in its mission to prevent, treat and cure lupus, a debilitating autoimmune disease that touches more than 1.4 million Americans.
More About This Special Event
Following the team’s practice, several speakers addressed the crowd, including the team’s Coach Rex Ryan, Johnson, Bisignano and several members of the ALR team. Allison Guzy, who was recently diagnosed with lupus, also spoke to the event attendees and shed light on living with lupus and the importance of finding a cure for this devastating disease.
Guests then joined Johnson, Coach Ryan, NY Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum and others at the Coaches Club for lunch before being treated to an exclusive tour of the (unoccupied) locker room.
Rallying Support for the ALR’s Walk with Us to Cure Lupus Event in New York City
Addressing the attendees at the fundraiser, Bisignano asked for participation in the ALR’s Walk with Us to Cure Lupus event in New York on Saturday, October 16, 2010 in Battery Park. The response from the crowd was very positive. Many guests enthusiastically showed their support -- much to the gratification of Johnson, who offered “special thanks to Frank Bisignano and JPMorgan Chase for their unwavering support, conviction and trust in the ALR’s mission.”
